A late deployment

This game has pulled Barracks, a map I havent played for a long time. I'm in the Blue area.

I think I'm going to go with Marines. I've stationed a couple of Snipers at the top of the map, ready to move over and get a good look down the long edge of the map towards the lower deployment zone. I've piut a grunt with them to help defend if a Hunter comes flying too close.

I'm going to put the rest of my troops, made up of the Commander, 3 Grunts, 2 Medics and a Grenader in the bottom right. I plan on moving them over towards the same deployment zone that the Snipers are spying on. Catch whatever is there in a little pincer movement of sorts.

I think its better than try to fight towards both deployment zones at once.

Game on

Nothing sighted on the first turn back, time to move my men up into better positions.

The snipers move to get a biew down the left hand side, and my lower troops get into position for next turn.

In hiding

Still nothing spotted on the left hand side, maybe he deployed only on the right,, or is sneakily hiding.

I'm advancing a single grunt at the bottom to see what can be spotted, and getting the snipers into good firing positions.

I'm a little worried that the top position will be overrun, so am trying to position them so they can cover each other.

Contact

I've spoted a lone grenader in the bottom left rooms, and an now moving my troops in to try to take it out. I'm using the grunts to blow the doors in, then advancing them in. I'm also sending a grenade ito the next door room in case he tries to run away that way (or bring in reinforcements).

Still nothing seen a the top of the map though.

Ouch!

We've had a large exchange of fire at the bottom.

Things would have gone better for me had I set Halt On Sighting on the two grunts that shot the doorways out..... It turns out that lone grenader wasnt quite as lonely as I thought. He had a few grunts keeping him company.

A few grenades later and the score is 2-2, with my Commander very badly wounded. I'm pulling them back to the joint medics and they are in for a serious healing session. I';m getting my grenader to retrun the destriuctive favour to try to keep the pressure off while healing.

I'm also moving the top grunt and one sniper into the buiolding to try to come at him from behind. The other sniper is advancing down with Halt On Sighting in case anything comes that way.

Ouch! (Part 2)

One of my grenaders presents was kicked bacl to me, causing him to blow himself up. Nasty! (Whats wrong with just asking for a receipt.....?)

That wasnt before he sent a grenade up to where the Commander and other Grunts are attacking from. Hopefully that should do a little damage.

My Healing commander is a little vulnerable right now, but I have to stand my ground to try to hold off the incoming masses. The sniper and Grunt in the cente wil be able to attack this turn, while my other sniper is moving further downt eh outside of the building. These units are not being much use, especially as Private Dickson is keing inside that accursed building all the time. Trouble is they are not much cop at close quarter fighting due to their slow fire rate.....

2 men left

I'm down to 2 snipers.

My Commander got taken out, along with both his medics. I got a few in return, but things look very bleak.

The current score is 4 - 11.

My snipers dont have the Rate of fire (or ammo) to kill off the remaining troops, but I'm going to take as many as possible with me!

Get in there!!!

Wow! My central sniper did me proud that turn!

I had advanced him inside the doorway, giving him a good view down the central corridor. Private Dickson had selected that corridor as a good place to hole up and heal his Commander.

I shot him in the back.

Ok, so not the most honourable of kills, but its 3 desperately needed points. He also took out on of the medics, taking the score up to 8 - 11.

His grenader is in the lower left room, so I plan to move my sniper towards the bottom of the map to get a look up to the doorway.

My champion sniper is staying put, covering that corridor again.

Corner Dancing

Private Dickson has a grunt cutting some rug in and out of the doorway at the bottom. I managed to hit him, even with the slow Sniper, but only managed to wound, not kill. That means that my Sniper is totally shot up. I'm trying to pull him away from the grunt to make it less likely he'll get hit, but I dont expect him to last this turn.

I'm going to advance my other sniper down set to Red-Red in the hope of catching him from the rear (as it were....)

Almost!!

That almost worked...

I ended up running my sniper face to face with his grenader. I got a shot off which reduced his health to about a third, but he is guarded by two grunts that I think are going to do some damage. I also saw him fire a shot into the hallway behind me. I didnt see if it left the window or not, but I think he will have been going for an internal bounce to get that sniper.

My lower sniper fared better than expected. He was shot in the back1 and is now on 1 health. I'm getting him to Force Fire towards the window where the Grunts/Grenader are currently near. Maybe I'll get lucky....

1 Have you no honour Dickson!!!!

Erm....

Well, while tidying up the entries for this site I stumbled across this incomplete game....

To be honest I thought it was a game that got rechallenged, leaving the original game number category just sitting there. It turns out that I had posted a number of entries to it.

I have no idea what happened in the end. I cant even remember who won, or even if the game got finished properly.

I was toying with the idea of just removing all the entries but instead I'll release them all. It sounded like it was shaping up to be a fun game.....

Also, sometimes LSN games DO go awol. People disappear and games just hang in limbo until they time out. Leaving this section here as a reminder of that feels rather fitting.

Edit Actually, after re-reading the full game once more I think I do recall the game. I'm 99% sure that Private Dickson took the match. So, its just my ineptness that stopped me finishing off this write-up. Whoops....
